 FFCOC SPEAKER'S PROGRAM

The FFCOC Speaker's Program has truly been an interesting and educational part of our monthly meetings.  Past speakers who have visited our club have been some of the best in the country. Speakers such as Lefty Kreh, AK Best, Gary Borger, Bob Clouser, Nick Curcione, Ed Jaworowski, Cecilia "Pudge" Kleinkauf, Mel Krieger, Maggie Merriman, Flip Pallot, Doub Swisher, Dave Whitlock and many more men and women have shared with us the best that the sport of fly fishing has to offer.

Today our Speaker Program continues to seek out some of the most dynamic speakers in the fly fishing industry.  In 2010 the FFCOC joined a consortium of seven other clubs that includes Conejo Valley, Golden State, Pasadena, Santa Barbara, Sespe, Sierra Pacific, and Wilderness Fly Fishers.  This consortium is the largest in the country, and it allows us to book international speakers as well as various speakers located throughout the United States.

Club speakers are obtained through several criteria and format, which includes a presenter that is educational, informative, entertaining, organized and professional.  Many of these speakers are conservationists, educators, equipment manufacturers, fishing guides, outfitters, writers, and self-taught fly fishers.  All eight consortium program chair people seek out these presenters through various media and personal contacts.

For information about the location, speaker and topic for each monthly meeting click on the text  "Monthly Meeting" for the corresponding month.  Details of the each speakers background and subject matter are typically received about a month in advance of the meeting.

Monthly meetings are open to our members, guest and the general public.  You do not need to be a member of our club to attend the monthly meetings.  The meetings start with a 7:00 p.m. "Wet Fly" social hour with snacks and a cash bar. Speaker presentations follow at about 8:00 p.m. and we adjourn at about 9:00 p.m.  The cost of the speaker program is $10.00 for each person to help offset the costs of the venue.

We encourage anyone that has not attended a meeting to come and join us for an evening of camaraderie, good food, fish tales and great speakers.  About 50 of our 160 members typically attend any given meeting when they are not out fishing.  If you are not already hooked on fly fishing we hope you soon will be.
