Since the club’s founding back in 1966, conserving the fisheries has been one of the club’s three original goals. Past efforts include the protection of trout species linked to steelhead that live in the San Gabriel Mountain Rivers and the support of the West Fork San Gabriel River Conservancy that focused on the overall health of the West Fork San Gabriel River. Today over 50 years later, Fly Fishers Club of Orange County is still dedicated to the conservation of local fisheries. Today we support and volunteer our time with conservation-based organizations, such as California Trout, Trout Unlimited and the Nature Conservancy. Also, we are engaged with the Southwest Council Fly Fishers International supporting the establishment of a Southwest Council FFI Conservation Committee in an effort to sustain our sport.
