I was born in the Gold County town of Placerville, California, where I had my first fishing experiences fishing for bluegill on a ranch pond with my brothers and father. In the mid 50’s we moved back to Orange County where my parents were raised. I graduated from Brea-Olinda High School and University of California in Riverside with a degree in math and later attended graduate school at UCI where I studied Computer Science. I now live in Brea with my wife, Joannie. I have two children and three grandsons.

My working career was as a Software Engineer. I retired from Hughes Information Technology Systems Company as a Vice President responsible for software engineering.

Many years ago a neighbor asked me if I new anything about fly fishing. I didn’t and he didn’t either. We were looking at an ad for a fly fishing class to be taught by Ray Johnson. It was a great class and both of us were “hooked”. Since then I have been involved in fly fishing and Fly Fishers Club of Orange County. I’m a past president of the club and have been a board member for many years. In addition to fly fishing I enjoy fly tying and fly rod building. I enjoy sharing my knowledge and skills with others and do so by periodically teaching classes for club member
